As a scientist, my research interests always involve a molecular component related to DNA. Recent projects I have wrapped up involve studying DNA methylation as a tool for conservation of Marine Megafauna with a focus on sharks and dolphins. Moving forward, my current projects include improving and developing an economical age estimation tool for bottlenose dolphins, developing an age estimation tool for sharks, and studying the influence, interaction, and correlation of environmental changes and DNA methylation changes as it related to age of organisms. I am also starting a study where DNA methylation changes in relation to disease development will be investigated to  identify disease biomarkers that could help aid in captive dolphin care.
